#5: Broadcast Interruption
From The Fogg That Bled — a Southern Gothic horror serial
“You are not where you think you are.”
At 3:33 a.m., every screen in Fogg, Texas comes alive. Radios, televisions, phones—all emit the same Emergency Alert: a tone that won’t end, a message that shouldn’t exist. And in the static, something breathes.
The Hollow Man has moved from watching to broadcasting. A dismantled transmission tower hums with impossible energy. VHS tapes nailed to trees show live footage of the town—angles no camera should capture. A news anchor is found dead at his desk, mouth sealed with wax, reporting his own death on loop. Residents begin filming themselves, desperate to anchor reality before it’s overwritten.
In the Hollow Archive, a forgotten ritual surfaces: mirrors, wax masks, and reversed speech meant to “seal the signal.” But the signal isn’t coming from the tower. It’s coming from the town itself.
A new tape appears, labeled “CHAPTER FIVE.” It shows the viewer watching the tape. And at the end, the Hollow Man leans into frame and whispers, “You’re live.”
